Right on Time

Last Saturday night, my sister asked if I could cut her hair. It was late—we’d been out all day, I was tired, and honestly, all I wanted to do was relax. But I agreed. She came over around 9 p.m. (yes, that late), and we headed inside.

Now, it’s late spring here in the South, and that means nighttime brings out all sorts of creatures. I have some outdoor lighting, but it’s not the brightest. As we were walking up the porch, I went first and walked right past something without noticing.

My sister, just a step behind me, suddenly says, “Snake!”

Of course, I froze. “Where?”

“Right there.”

It took me a minute, but sure enough—there it was. A baby copperhead, just inches from where I had walked. I had gone right past it and never even saw it.

In that moment, I felt so many things—shock, fear, gratitude. And then I thought: I always remind my daughter to be careful, to pay attention… but I forget to remind myself. Sometimes we get so used to our routines that we stop paying attention to what could be right in front of us.

That night could have ended so differently. My dog was inside, barking, ready for her nightly potty break. Had my sister not come over… had she not seen the snake… I would’ve opened the door and sent my dog straight into danger.

But I didn’t.

Because God’s timing is always perfect.

It reminded me of

Proverbs 16:9 "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."

That scripture brings so much peace and clarity . We don’t always understand why something happens—or why something doesn’t. But God sees the full picture. His timing isn’t just perfect—it’s intentional. He knows what we need, when we need it, and He places the right people and moments in our lives at just the right time on our path.

That delayed red light.

That alarm you accidentally slept through.

That random phone call or unexpected visit.

Sometime these moments that can feel frustrating—or even meaningless—but sometimes, they’re divine appointments. Quiet protection. Hidden grace.

That night, God used something as ordinary as a haircut to protect one of His creatures—and to remind me that He is in the details. He goes before us, walks beside us guiding us on the way.

So if you’re waiting right now…

If you’re unsure…

If you’re frustrated by a delay…

Take a breath. Trust in His timing.

Because even when you can’t see it, He’s already working it out.

And when it’s time, you will know that He is planning your course.
