Spirituality and Stingers – When Fear Keeps You Stuck
There he was,a red wasp, clinging to my windshield.
I knew I was safe inside my car. The doors were shut. The glass was thick. But still, I hesitated. Still, I sat there, thinking I'm not moving until he does!
That little stinger had power over my day.
Funny how something so small can carry such weight.
How something that can’t even touch you can stir up fear that sinks in deep.
That moment turned into something bigger for me—a lesson. That wasp became a symbol for the fears, doubts, and lies that buzz around in my spirit. The enemy doesn’t always come roaring. Sometimes, it’s just a whisper. Sometimes, it’s a sting we expect to feel, the anticipation. Even if it never lands.
That’s how fear works—it gets in your head before it ever touches your life.
And often, the enemy uses our own thoughts to keep us from moving forward.
You’re not ready.
What if it all falls apart?
You’re not enough.
Better stay where it’s safe.
We buy into those thoughts like they’re truth. We sit still, delaying, stuck inside, spiritually speaking, engine running but going nowhere.
But here’s what I’m learning: fear is a liar.
And God doesn’t call us to live stuck behind the glass.
He calls us to trust Him enough to step out—even when the sting feels possible.
That red wasp never touched me. Eventually he flew off.
But I also felt a shift—a gentle nudge in my heart to notice the spiritual stingers I let control my next steps.
We all have them. Fear. Doubt. Shame. Guilt.
But we also have a choice: stay frozen… or walk forward in faith.
Scripture reminds me:
“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” —2 Timothy 1:7
So today, if you're feeling stuck, if something’s buzzing too loud in your heart or mind—pause. Breathe.
Ask yourself: Is this fear holding the power… or am I just giving it permission-or using it as excuse-to not move forward?
Let go of those fears. His grace is your protection from life’s stings, He is your shield. Don't give fear the final say—have faith, step out.
